My Passion for cooking came from a very young age when I would cook alongside my mum, I would watch her and help assist with cake making and other general cooking duties. Cooking is my passion and one of my first loves. When it came to leaving school I will be honest I had no clue what I wanted to do and My mum suggested I go to Catering College, then from there decide my next steps. So with that, I did attend Barnfield College in Luton where I studied for a BTEC National Course in Hotel & Catering institutional operations. Whilst at College I also worked at a 4* Hotel as a waiter, this helped with funds but also seeing how a big Hotel operated. During college, I trained to be a Chef & myself and other pupils took in it turns to run the College Restaurant with different themed evenings, this was not only great fun but also gave me some great life skills for my future. The College course was great as on top of cooking I was also able to train in many areas such as Accounts, Food Science, Cleaning techniques, Hospitality roles, Management & Food Hygiene – All of which have not only benefited me in my career and professional life but also in my personal.
After leaving college I worked at TGI Fridays for 9 Years, I started as a Barback then I was soon promoted to Bartender, from there I then started in the Kitchen and soon become a manager, these steps of progression I am very proud of.
About Simon’s Kitchen UK – At Home
When I am at Home I cook the majority of the time, I love trying new recipes, getting ingredients just right and I am a stickler for perfecting before adding anything to my Blog. I absolutely love cooking for friends and family, secretly I love showing off my skills and they are not moaning as they always get a good feed at mine. Everyone comments how great my recipes are and are always so encouraging on me opening my own restaurant and who knows maybe one day, I never say never. My ideal career would be a TV host of a Cookery show & help inspire others to get into cooking. Cooking to me is a life skill and I truly believe everyone should know at least the basics, food is such an amazing part of life and everyone should enjoy it
